Welcome Back

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas Holiday. I was very blessed this year. This is just a reminder that students return to school next Thursday. Report cards will be sent home that day as well. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your break. See you on Thursday. 

Christmas 2011

We had a wonderful last week of school before Christmas Break. On Monday, we had our Christmas Carnival. The children enjoyed traveling from class to class working on different crafts. They made sandpaper gingerbread men, puzzle piece snowflakes, and pine cone Christmas Trees just to name a few things. On Tuesday, we had our Christmas Party. They could not wait to open the presents. Then it was party time with a pizza party on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday was Polar Express Day. We watched the movie and just had fun. I think the best part was playing in the shaving cream (pretend snow). They had a blast!!!! Click on the link below to see a slide show of our week.

                       Please send a $5 wrapped gift for your child to open.

                      Also, please send $2 for our party.

First Grade Use Laptops

Today we used our laptop cart and the students learned how to use a MacBook. This was a new experience for many of them but they had a blast. They were sad when it was time to go home. They asked if we could do it again tomorrow!!They had a wonderful time learning something new.

Hope everyone has had a great week. I know you are looking forward to a beautiful weekend. Just wanted to remind everyone that money for our 1st Grade T-Shirts is due Friday. T-Shirts are $10.00. Make checks out to the school.

2nd Six Weeks

Monday begins the 2nd Six Weeks. We will begin recording grades. Papers that are sent home stapled in the Friday Folder are the ones that are recorded in the grade book. Please talk to your child about the importance of working hard and keeping their grades up. Students who make the Honor Roll each six weeks will be rewarded with an ice cream party and a field trip!!!! If you have any questions about grades, please feel free to contact me anytime. First Day of First Grade

What a wonderful day we had today. Everyone came in ready to begin the new school year. We had a great time learning class rules, procedures, routines. We even got to begin stations today. That was the best part of the day. Well maybe it was P.E. Needless to say we had such a good day that students were falling asleep in the hall while waiting on buses!! Moms, Dads, and Grandparents--you should be proud of your children. They worked hard today!!!!!!

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all my parents and students who attended our "Meet the Teacher" Night. It was great to meet all of you. I am soooooooo excited to be teaching your child this year. We are going to have a great year. I can not wait until Monday because I get to see my sweet precious babies. Field Day Time!!!

We will have our annual Field Day on May 6. You may begin sending money for Field Day T-shirts and Field Day Bracelets. T-shirts are $10 and bracelets are $15. You may send a portion of the money for the bracelets and pay the rest before Field Day. Parents, check your child's Friday Folder for volunteer forms. We would love to have parents to help us during Field Day. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call.

First Grade Writes to Private Bryant

Right after the Christmas Holiday, our class began writing letters to a solider who is in Basic Training at Ft. Benning in GA. The students asked many questions about him and what he did on a daily basis. We discussed the duties of a solider and the training they had to go through. The solider we are writing to is my cousin, Private Koty Bryant. They were so excited when I told them that we would be writing letters to him and he would write us back and maybe come for a visit when he comes home. I finally recieved a call from him last week and he said that he recieved their letters. He was very excited to read them. Private Bryant will be home in April and would like to come and visit our class! We look forward to seeing him real soon!

Honor Roll Field Trip money is due on Monday, February 7. We will be going to the BJCC to see the Birmingham Ballet production of "The Sleeping Beauty". Tickets are $10.00 for parents and students. The trip is on Friday, February 25th. Any parent going will need to drive. Please contact me if you have any quesitions.
